Sun Valley Nordic Festival – 2011

The 2011 Sun Valley Nordic Festival, held for nine days between January 29th and February 6th, was a great success. It was helped in part by the Sun Valley City Council’s support of the prize money for the Boulder Mountain Tour which brought in many elite world class racers and a large number of skiers who wanted to ski with them. At the evening awards ceremony held in the Sun Valley Inn Limelight room, an overflow crowd gave the City Council and the City of Sun Valley a tremendous round of applause for their support.

Here is a video slideshow I put together with some of my photos from this year’s Sun Valley Nordic Festival:

Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain Closes with a Splash

Sunday, April 4, 2010 was closing day on Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain. It was a spectacular winter season for Dollar with the new Terrain Park, Monster Jump and various new events.

Sun Valley Company management didn’t let us down on closing day, either. They did it with style, as well. At least 1,000 people were on hand for their “Dollar Dayz – Pond Skim” event which had over 150 entrants dressed up in costumes. The crowd enjoyed a BBQ and drinks and a good time was had by all.

As Sun Valley General Manager Tim Silva mentioned yesterday as we were recapping the season, there is a lot of pent-up demand around here for these types of events and activities. That sure is true. I’m looking forward to more fun events like this here in Sun Valley.

Enjoy some of my photos from the “Pond Skim” and keep an eye out for Tim in there, as well:

Sun Valley Adds More Events on Dollar Mountain

The Sun Valley Company continues to add fun events on Dollar Mountain. To take advantage of their new Terrain Park, they created a three-event “Lunar Eclipse Rail Jam” series held over three Saturday evenings. This was a great chance for families and the community to come out and enjoy several evenings with BBQs and some excellent entertainment featuring the Valley’s youth.

WordPress, the provider of this blog software, just launched a new feature which allows imbedded slideshows within blogs, so I thought I would try it out with some of my photos from the final Rail Jam event held on March 27th. Here goes:
