Sun Valley City Council Meetings the Week of 7/21/08

There are two Special City Council meetings in Sun Valley the week of July 21st, and one the week of July 28th.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10:00 am we have a Special Council work session meeting to continue work on the City’s 2008/2009 budget. At this meeting we will hear a presentation from the Sun Valley/Ketchum Chamber and Visitors Bureau regarding their funding request. We will then continue to review the remainder of the budget and prepare it for a public meeting on July 29, 2008 where the Council is expected to vote to adopt a tentative budget. On Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 12:00 pm there is a Special Council meeting which is the continued Public Hearing on the Crown Ranch Phase V subdivision and design review applications from the July 17, 2008 meeting. To see the Agenda for the 7-24-08 meeting click here.

*Note that on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 4:00 pm we will have another Special Council meeting to review and adopt a tentative 2008/2009 City budget. I will have more information on that meeting, along with draft copies of the proposed budget later in the week.

Greetings and welcome! I started this independent blog in November of 2006 as a communication tool to work along with my website. This is an opportunity to communicate with the residents of Sun Valley and with my friends around the world on all sorts of topics.

This blog focuses primarily on issues of the day facing the City of Sun Valley and those which effect our citizens and property owners. I also use the blog to discuss some of the lighter sides of things as well. Although I have been “blogging” since October of 2005, I am very excited and grateful to have my own independent blog in a non-commercial setting where we can keep the discussion focused on the issues of the day.

To help keep this blog positive and constructive, I established a few simple Guidelines. You can see them at the tab above.

I was born in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana, a first generation American. My mother immigrated from Sweden and my father from Switzerland. I grew up with the pristine mountains at my back door and came to appreciate and value the natural setting and all it gave us.

I first came to ski in Sun Valley in the early 1960’s with my family and came back almost every year after that. Like most of you, the natural beauty and sense of community lured me here full-time over 20 years ago. It is because of my desire to help preserve those values that I feel so strongly about giving back to the town I now call home.

My lovely wife of 30 years, Patti, is active in many community service projects. She currently serves as a Trustee on the International P.E.O. Foundation Board. Proir to that, Patti completed a seven year term on the state board of the Idaho State Chapter of P.E.O., serving the last year as President. In her free time Patti practices law.
